About
This concert is an exploration of the different textures and possibilities of Brazilian music through works from the 20th and 21st centuries. The programme includes arrangements of works by some of the greatest pillars of Brazilian music in the 20th century, such as Villa-Lobos, Camargo-Guarnieri and Nepomuceno, alongside new works by two living composers: Mario Ferraro and Harry Crowl. This event will present unusually rich combinations of instruments, ranging from duo to quintet: the featured arrangements create new and exciting colour palettes in well-known works, such as Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasileiras 5, while the new works are examples of the exciting paths taken by living Brazilian composers in the 21st century. The musical excitement of this event will be complemented by the expertise of the performers involved, who took up a technically and musically challenging programme with remarkable passion and stamina.
