Heitor Villa-Lobos’s compositions form one of the most important milestones in guitar history, leading the instrument towards unexplored and unexpected expressive possibilities that continue to surprise audiences worldwide.

‘Todo Villa’ presents the complete published work of Villa-Lobos for solo guitar from the perspective of three internationally renowned Brazilian guitarists from three generations, all of them alumni from the Royal Academy of Music: Fabio Zanon, Fabricio Mattos, and Plínio Fernandes. The programme follows a non-linear aesthetic through time jumps and variations within the performance space, thus enabling a clearer appreciation of the composer’s versatile style.

Tonight’s concert provides a rare opportunity not only for guitar and Villa-Lobos aficionados, but also for admirers of the incomparable beauty of Brazilian music.
