This concert is an exploration of the different textures and possibilities of Brazilian music through works from the 20^th and 21^st centuries. The programme includes arrangements of works by some of the greatest pillars of Brazilian music in the 20^th century, such as Villa-Lobos, Camargo-Guarnieri and Nepomuceno, alongside new works by two living composers: Mario Ferraro and Harry Crowl. This event will present unusually rich combinations of instruments, ranging from duo to quintet: the featured arrangements create new and exciting colour palettes in well-known works, such as Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasileiras 5, while the new works are examples of the exciting paths taken by living Brazilian composers in the 21^st century. The musical excitement of this event will be complemented by the expertise of the performers involved, who took up a technically and musically challenging programme with remarkable passion and stamina.
